Drought and The Rain Maker
The Rain Maker (2026), oil on canvas, 80×100 cm.
I began this painting in the summer of 2026, during a record-breaking drought in the UK. The green leaves in my garden were turning brown, and the roses were struggling to bloom. Painting The Rain Maker became my own kind of rain ritual.
When I finished it, I realised the painting wasn’t only about the garden outside. It was also about the garden within us—the part of ourselves that needs care and attention to keep growing.
